Hating America?

I have, upon occasion, been accused of Hating America, due to my frequent criticism of the Bush administration.

It isn't true, of course. I love America.

And I miss it.

I just hate the people who've destroyed it.

Of course you don't hate America...you just hate Freedom(tm)

[identity profile] plutherus.livejournal.com 2006-09-30 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, Freedom's down to $2.57 a gallon down here now!

Just before the election, too, who could possibly have predicted that?

[identity profile] reynard52.livejournal.com 2006-09-30 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
See, Freedom is $2.57 here too...hmmmm...

[identity profile] metallumai.livejournal.com 2006-09-30 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
oh-- I saw it $1.99 today, in StL.
amazing how the prices of things fluctuate innit-- inscrutable.

The Redder the area the lower the prices. *hugz* ^_^

Missouri's red-- St L. is extremely blue-collar BLUE. Inscrutable.

So gas must be even cheaper outside the city.

[identity profile] metallumai.livejournal.com 2006-09-30 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
You may just be right.

I love politics.... :(

[identity profile] plutherus.livejournal.com 2006-10-01 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I liked to refer to it as "A small island of blue in a vast red intellectual wasteland."

The place has history, culture, (even the dread multiculture!), jazz clubs, opera, and sushi, and just outside are snake-handlers, sibling-spouses, and Jesus billboards...

(OK, I admit I loved the trio of billboards out Highway 40: "Discount Tires", "CHEAP cigarrettes", "JESUS!")

But damn, do I miss the weather there. Here, it's a high of 77 degrees, partially cloudy. tomorrow, 77 degrees, scattered clouds, and after that, 77 degrees with occasional clouds. My god, I've worked in buildings with more weather than this!

So you hate approximately 51% of America

[identity profile] plutherus.livejournal.com 2006-10-01 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, I just hate 51% of Americans.

[identity profile] 31seel.livejournal.com 2006-10-01 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
America is its people. Otherwise this would be known as "that big empty place" or some such.

[identity profile] whpingboy.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
I thought that the polls said you hate 30% to 40% of Americans

You should hate the fleeing rats still, especially if they are (a) just as stupid in their opposition as in their support, or (b) abdicatign responsibility.

I am reminded of a cartoon about Kerry, in a nutshell, it had two guys. The first said "Kerry was fooled into supporting the war." The second man said "I wasn't fooled & I want my president to be smarter than I."

[identity profile] plutherus.livejournal.com 2006-10-02 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
I think that was Lewis Black, on the Daily Show, who said that...
Or possibly one of the correspondents...
Damn, I really can't remember now.

I did like the line, though, and paraphrased it in one of my letter to our Senators and representative.
