Done moving!!
Nov. 10th, 2002 02:32 amYay.
I am finally finished moving. I'm sitting on the floor of my new apartment (I do have a chair, which is my only bit of furniture other than my mattress, but it's not easily accessible at the moment.
I hate driving in San Francisco. I hate driving big trucks. So, of course, I got to drive a big truck through the streets of San Francisco today to get all my stuff over here. Well, OK, so it was really just a large UHaul cargo van, but that's plenty enough for me. Took us about an hour to drive here, and about three hours to unload. I'm really glad I've been getting rid of stuff as I move in the past. The only thing unpacked so far is my laptop, from which I'm writing this, dialed in to work, since I don't have the DSL set up yet (the modem is in one of these boxes here), and the coffee maker, graciously donated by former housemate Mikki. I will miss them, but I am delighted to have my own place.
The cats are adjusting. Finally came out from under the...ummm.... I don't know what to call that thing: The bedroom floor is raised about three feet above the rest of the apartment floor, and underneath it is storage space. That's where the cats were hiding during the entire move, once they got to SF. But they survived the trip with minimal yowling, and are now exploring their new home, occasionally stopping by for a quick pet or to rub up against my feet. They found their new food dish, and figured out the new litter box already, so I think they'll be fine. Can't wait to see what they make of the fire escape and the neighbor's roof :-)
I am utterly exhausted, very tired, but not the slightest bit sleepy. It's been stormy in the Bay Area for the last few days, although it was thankfully clear the entire time we were moving. I hope we get some more, I have nice new storm window in my bedroom and am going to love laying in bed watching the weather through it.
