Sudden Catholics
Sep. 16th, 2003 09:54 pmApparently, Jeb Bush is a Catholic, now.
I guess he has to be, since Bush is desperately trying to get back the Catholic vote, which he seems to have lost somewhere along the way. So, to prove that the Bush's are good Catholics, and please remember that in the next election, they are building a new catholic university in Florida, to be headed by Jeb Bush (Son of George HW Bush) and Tom Monaghan (founder of Domino's Pizza).
Just a couple quick questions: When did Jeb convert to Catholicism? I assume he was raised in the same household with George, the household where the very reverend Jerry Falwell was a frequent visitor, and where Billy Graham often came to preach to the children. What does George, who professes to be a fundamentalist christian follower of Billy Graham, think of his brother's involvement in what his mentor believes is a Satan-run organization which exists for the sole purpose of deceiving people away from the true teachings of Jesus?
As for Tom Monaghan, the only question I have for him is, if he is a Catholic, how come whenever he comes to Portland (which he used to do frequently), he always attended services at Greater Portland Bible Church instead of Catholic one?
Or are these people suddenly now just conveniently catholic because they want to be very visible in doing something pro-catholic so that the Republicans can get the vote back in the upcoming election?
And, why does Jeb Bush and Tom Monaghan need our money, anyway? Didn't they get enough from selling Domino's Pizza and the U.S. Presidency to build it themselves? And how much of our tax money is going to be used to pay for this under the other son's "faith-based organizations" handouts?
