So, apparently there was a State of the Union speech today. I didn't see it (is it on youtube yet?), and haven't read the transcript, but I can guess.

Thought it would be fun to make a drinking game out of it. (This was partly [livejournal.com profile] reynard52's idea, too.) Something like:
Every time he says the word "Freedom" take a drink.
Drink on each "nucular".
Every time he claims he never said something that he just said less than five minutes ago, take a drink.
One drink for each time he mentions 9/11.

And so on, and so forth. I guess, really, it would work for any speech of his. I mean, it's not like they vary depending on circumstances or current events. It's like that Star Trek episode about the Nazis ("Patterns of Force"), where the bad guys have the drugged up former starship captain giving a pre-recorded speech, and Spock points out that "The speech has no cohesion, Captain. It is just a series of simple catch-phrases each crafted to strike an emotional tone, and strung together in apparently random order."

OK, and, speaking of Atlas Shrugged, I almost forgot to mention one of my favorite parts: There's a character in there, one of the former industrialists, who's turned pirate. He has a thing about Robin Hood. Hey, I can understand, so do I. It is one of my favorite stories. I have nine different movies of it on DVD. (But not the Kevin Costner version, 'cuz that one sucked.) Anyway, this guy hates, despises Robin Hood. That whole "rob from the rich and give to the poor" thing that he does. It's immoral, because it's redistribution of wealth, which is communism, which is evil.

Anyway, So, it turns out, amidst his whole diatribe about what a terrible hero Robin Hood is, that what this guy does now is attack the cargo ships of the Evil Collectivist Government (tm), and steals the wealth they unjustly took in "taxes" from those who made it, which he then gives back to the original owners. Unlike Robin Hood, of course, who did the exact opposite: he attacked the caravans of the Evil Oppressive Monarch (tm) and stole the wealth that they unjustly took in "taxes" from those who created it, and gave it back to the original owners. Ummm... OK.

Yeah, sometimes I go off on the Randroids. They just really annoy me for some reason. Anyway, someone mentioned them on slashdot a day ago or so, I threw in a comment, was asked to expound, so I did. Thought I'd share:
