Talk like a pirate day has ended
Sep. 20th, 2003 12:56 amAnd, I spent the entire day getting ready for Eugene Celebration. Aaaarrrrr!
Yep, that's about as far as I got talking like a pirate today, too.
Well, this has been fun. Despite setbacks, it's all worked out, and everything is ready for tomorrow, mostly thanks to
reynard52, who is about the most valuable organizing and motivating force a group like Geeks Without Borders could hope to have on its payroll (if we had a payroll, that is). I may not point it out enough, but it really can't be denied that we'd'a been stillborn without her, if we even got that far.
Much kudos must also go to M. (who doesn't blog), with whom my most frequent conversations go something like "That's good enough. Leave it. Move on. It's fine, it's good enough, it's OK....oh, oh yeah, wow, that's much better."
Frankly, as I look at this big stack of receipts that I still haven't finished entering into the system, and wonder again how to make a budget for the upcoming quarter, and look over my growing to-do list of items which are almost all behind schedule, I sometimes wonder what exactly I'm bringing to this organization. Well, OK, I did quit my job to move here and work on it full-time. And, I suppose, I do make sort of a handy assistant in all the other projects that are going on to make it all happen. But, I dunno if standing around holding tools for M, or accompanying C on shopping trips to get one more needed thing is really all that important.
And, yeah, I sort of get a little depressed sometimes about how slowly everything seems to be coming together.
I think that after we get back from setting up the orphanage in Sonoyta next month, things will look a lot better. Right now, I'm just a little overwhelmed at everything that needs to be done between now and then.
Not to mention Chiapas.
Or Nerd Ball 2.
I'm looking forward to talking about GWoB to everybody all day tomorrow.
I'm even more, though, looking forward to Sunday night, when it'll all be over.
Aaaarrr!
