Wonder Woman
Jun. 5th, 2017 07:52 amI haven't seen it yet, but pretty much everyone I've heard from, on Facebook and in person, has said it's great.
Which makes me happy. And kind of relieved.
It's been pointed out that the movie should not be made to carry as much weight as it did. As "the" female superhero movie, it was what everyone was watching to see if female-led superhero movies would be viable.
Now, it shouldn't be. Nobody looked at Batman vs. Superman and decided that we can't put men in superhero movies any more. And there have been action movies with female leads that have done pretty well in the past.
So, yeah, there's no reason to be relieved that Wonder Woman did as well as it has. It should not have had to carry as much weight as it did. But I'm glad it managed to do it.
