Some interesting developments (no pun intended) in software and our relationship with AI.

In the game Fortnite, one of the most-requested features was the ability to thank the driver of the "battle bus" before jumping out. They added it to the game last year.

In the game Ghosts of Tsushima, you can pet all the foxes. They included this from the beginning, after seeing other games that have animals and people complaining about the inability to pet them.

Amazon's Alexa now has an option you can enable where she will listen for a few seconds after she helps you. This allows you to clarify something in context, but it's mostly used by people who thank her and want to know that she knows they're grateful for her help.

Little things like this give me hope for our future. Mankind isn't nearly as irredeemably awful as the actions of some few would suggest.

Also, our relationship with AI in the future is going to be interesting, but I suspect it'll be much less contentious than some writers have speculated.

#336: From the asteroid's trajectory, it was either a newcomer to the belt, or had been recently moved.
