Back on the internet!
May. 7th, 2006 09:06 amYay, I've returned to the internet. Oh, and I have an apartment now, too.
Cats are settling in nicely. I'm mostly unpacked, though I still have to reassemble a few things. I have a comfy chair donated by a local friend.
DMV is still an issue, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that. But, I have until tomorrow to make a decision. Went to get smog certificate, everything passed except, of course, the catalytic converter is still giving an error code, which California won't pass until it's fixed, either. They measured the actual emissions, and they're very low, despite having just driven it 2500 miles and not yet changing the oil or the air filter. Carbon Monoxide, for example: Max is 100 (it doesn't say 100 what, just 100. Parts per million or something, I guess). Anyway, max is 100. Average is 17. My car: 4. There are 19 other categories. My car gets a PASS in every one except one: "Check Engine Light: FAIL". So, the damn light goes on and I have to replace the catalytic converters, despite proof that, other than sending an error signal, they're working flawlessly.
Damn bureaucracy.
Speaking of incompetence in your chosen field, I realize that tech support is, in general, considered entry level. And tech support for a cable company is never going to be the most technically advanced job in anybody's career arc. However, please people, at least try. I mean, put a little bit of effort into it. Even if you got an email this morning saying a server was down, it doesn't mean that every single call you get that day is because of that server, OK? So, I got my cable modem yesterday. Got an error as part of the registration process, so called tech support. It took 5 people, 3 phone calls, an hour of phone time and 18 hours total for me to finally get to someone who realized that sales has to flag the modem they gave me as active before I can use it. Once somebody did finally decide to do a bit of trouble-shooting rather than just go down the quicklist that they give you over the phone while you're on hold, it took me about 30 seconds to get internet access.
Anyway, I'm back. Gonna go catch up on everybody else now.
Speaking of things that happened while I was away, is Stephen Colbert a god, or what?
