I was going to write up a nice long post about terror and the effects thereof, and authoritarianism and the meaning of "Land of the free, home of the brave" and other obsolete phrases, but I didn't get around to it.

Instead, I have an important issue to discuss: Microsoft XP (SP2) keyboard functions.
Somehow, my cat, walking over my keyboard, managed to trip a setting that I can't figure out how to undo. The backspace key, and the up and down arrow keys, no longer repeat when held down.

It's driving me crazy.

And, as far as I can tell, it's just those three keys. Left/right repeat just fine. Up/down don't. DEL repeats as you'd expect. But Backspace doesn't. What the hell? And, more importantly, how the hell do I fix it?

The key, by the way, works fine. Each key will fire, once, every time I hit it. But, holding it down doesn't make it repeat. I've tried resetting the repeat time through the keyboard control panel, but that doesn't do anything for these three keys.

Anybody have any ideas? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Did you check the accessibility options in the control panel? How about keyboard? The selectiveness is odd, but accessibility is always kicking my butt
