Good weekend
Aug. 24th, 2008 08:29 pmMostly read my book. Got done a few of the things I wanted to finish, so that was good. Barely actually got around to playing my new computer game much at all, but that wasn't really a goal, so no biggie there.
Didn't finish everything I wanted to do in the living room, but got a good start on it. I'm calling that good.
Made myself dinner, then made dinner for tomorrow night (it needs to marinate for 24 hours). Hopefully D and the kids will be back by then, or I'm going to have a whole lot of leftovers.
What else? Oh, yeah, on Friday the cat finally showed up again. I was getting worried again, as I hadn't seen him since Monday. He's used to being able to come in and out of the house during the day, but while everybody buy me is gone it's all closed up. This time I had gooshyfood for him, so he was happy. Hung out and followed me around the house until I went to bed. Then, par for the course, he came down about 3am to let me know he wanted out. Good kitty. Well, I guess it beats him peeing in the house somewhere. He has a litter box but never uses it.
On Saturday, another cat showed up. I'd left the back door open, both to get some air and to let Nephesh in in case he showed up. I went upstairs and a big orange cat was sleeping on the couch. He woke up when I approached and gave me that "who are you?" look that cats give to strange people in their house. Then he paused, looked around, said "oh, shit!", jumped straight up in the air, swiveled and took off out the back door. OK, maybe he didn't actually say oh, shit, but you can tell he thought it. I couldn't blame him. I've had mornings like that, too.
I still have to make the salad. It's supposed to cool in the refrigerator for one hour, but from past experience, it's still good 24 hours later, so I might as well. I'm going to have to make the chutney tomorrow, though, as I read the recipe wrong before going shopping. I thought it said 1.5 oz of mint leaves. Turned out, it was 1.5 cups of mint leaves. Fred Meyer has these little .7-oz packets of organic mint, so I got two of those. Not gonna be nearly enough. If I was thinking, I would have noticed that but, obviously I wasn't. Fortunately, it doesn't have to chill, or cook, or anything, just get blended together, so I can make it tomorrow while the chicken cooks.
And, really, that's about it for now. My back is sore, right between the shoulder blades, and has been all day. I have got to start doing aikido regularly again. Sure, all my muscles always hurt, but me back was fine. Well, after the first month it was.
