Mortgaging the Whitehouse
Jun. 3rd, 2003 07:30 pmNo, not a political post this one.
I just got spam asking me to apply for a mortgage (and simultaneously telling me I've been pre-approved.)
So I went to the site in question and filled out their form.
Not wanting to use my own address, of course, since I didn't want to share any info with the spammers, I filled in the only other address I could think of: 2600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington, DC 20500
After 60-seconds, I was pre-approved for a $30,000 mortgage, "based on the information you have provided."
Sounded good to me, so of course I gave them permission to send the legal forms to "my" address, and to send me information about more exciting offers as well....
Almost kinda makes me wish I'd used my own address for contact, so I could send in the forms, cash the check, then see what happens if I default.
