"Circus" is the word most editorialists seem to be using when it comes to describing the California election, with the big joke of almost 200 candidates, from actors to porn stars to wrestlers to ordinary people who somehow managed to raise the $3500 needed to enter the race.
I have no idea what the ballot is going to look like.
But, I ask, why is it a joke that California has 200 candidates to choose from? The real question is, why don't all elections? Why shouldn't there be a wide range of candidates for every possible office? Who says that it's better if we're limited to just two guys plus a couple of people to vote for in protest of the real two?
