Sometimes, it's little changes in technology that make a big difference.

I have been using Firefox as my browser for a few weeks now, and just recently discovered that I love tabbed browsing. As in, it's completely changed the experience of researching on the web. It doesn't seem like a big deal when described - - opening a page in a new tab as opposed to opening in a new window. What's the big difference? Dunno if I can even describe it, but after using it for a few weeks, there's no way I could go back to the old way of doing things.

Tivo, apparently is similar. I don't have one, but have been told by reliable sources that it completely changes TV. Why bother? I ask. After all, I've got a programmable VCR (well, I did last time I had this conversation), but just a little more convenience makes all the difference.

It reminds me a bit when I was selling the NeXT computer, back in 1989. One of the coolest features, I thought, was how easy it was to multitask. "But, really, how often would I want to run more than one program at a time?" The Windows users would ask me. "Trust me - one you've used a real multitasking machine, you'll never know how you lived without it."

Yea, I like the firefox alot..oh that reminds me, I need to get the newest version...

The only prob w/ the tabs, is that once in a blue moon, when I goto close a tab, I forget I am using tabs, and close out the window by mistake..OOPS!

BTW, what extention do I need to add-in to get a 'save as' function (not the 'save page as' but the one u use to save say a file or such from a webpage)?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you mean to save, say, a link or an image within the page? The default package supports that - just right-click on the image and select "Save Image as..." (or "Save Link As..." to save the results of a link.

Center-click, of course, will automatically open the linked page in a new tab.

If that doesn't answer the question, then I was correct in my first estimate that I didn't understand what the question was :)

ok, here is an example (btw, yea i know it does those other things ok):

I goto redvsblue.com
I want to DL one of the files they have there (they all happen to be .avi files..basically comedy scetches based off of the game halo..VERY funny)
the way to save it is to right-click on the file and then hit 'save as'. now the problem is that in mozilla, it dont have that option(or any like it that is suitable)..so i end up having to use sucky IE for that.

does this make sense?

Oh, I get it.

Not sure why it wouldn't have a "Save Link As..." option, though - mine does, and I'm pretty sure I selected all the default options on download/install.

Are you on the latest version?

(Or, come to think of it, am I? :)

Hmm, it seems that I misunderstood what that did, combined w. the stupidity of the wireless network I am on.

I agree on both tabs and Tivo!!!

BTW...is there a way that you can tell Firefox, when a link is supposed to open in a new windo to open it in a tab instead???

Use the mousewheel to select, it works on non-javascript inks

I love Firefox. I've been using it since last September, and tabbed browsing totally rocks.

I also use Thunderbird which I love too.
