I called Comcast today, and they said they could hook up cable internet for just a little more than what we're paying now for DSL. Either one is kind of expensive, but if I go with Comcast, we can get connected on Tuesday. Plus, we get cable TV into the bargain. So I'll be able to watch the new Battlestar Galactica series when it starts.

Even better, I am so looking forward to calling Qwest on Tuesday to cancel the pending work-order to turn my DSL back on, and exactly why I'm doing so. :)

I thought the new Battlestar Galactica came and went. Or are they bringing it back?

Yeah, the miniseries last year was the pilot. It got picked up as a series, starting this fall.

Did you see the miniseries when it was on? I really loved the way it was re-made. A few things I didn't like, and were kind of silly, but overall it was incredible. Really captured the mood of being the last known survivors of the human race, out looking for a planet that may or may not exist and nobody knows where it is...

SWEET!!!

I LOVED the miniseries. I was sad when it ended. Edward James was terrific. You're right about the mood...very spooky, people rising to the challenge of utter catastrophe.

Frequent outages. Some lasting for days. We had to reset the DSL modem, by unplugging it for a few seconds then plugging it back in, at least once a day. This latest one was technically my fault, as I forgot to transfer money from one account to another, and the check bounced. But I was still a little annoyed that their only attempts at warning me it was going to be cut off was four automated phone calls (which, by the way, hang up if they detect an answering machine). Then, after cancelling (not suspending, completely cancelling) my account, they told me it would take at least a week to get it turned back on, and, by the way, since it's a new account, I can't get the same features as I had before (such as free unlimited use of dialup numbers), but would have to pay extra for them.

So I called Comcast, who could hook it up faster, cheaper, and, hopefully, better.

Their tech support was amazingly good - among the best I've experienced in any industry, but any time I had to talk to customer service it was a nightmare.
