Well, in about 14 hours, if everything goes right (hah! What's the chance of that?) we'll know who the next president of the United States will be.
But I got something much more important in mind than that... OryCon!
As many reading this know, I recently moved to St. Louis, Missouri, for a new job. Unfortunately, the move left me fairly on the broke side. I have received one paycheck, but it was only for 4 days of work, so it wasn't a whole lot. So, and this is directed to everyone who'll be sharing the GWoB rooms at OryCon this year, I can't easily pay for both rooms. So I'm making a plea: Can anyone else staying in the rooms chip in to help pay for them? I know some of you are just as broke, so if you can't afford much, I understand, and want to let you know you're still more than welcome to come stay and help out with GWoB at the con. But for those who can, if you can come up with, collectively, $300, we can keep both rooms, which is almost necessary for the party. So can those of you who are currently employed chip in $20-$100? There'll be 8 people between the two rooms, so if you average just $42.00 each, we're golden.
Also, if anyone coming to the party can bring a bottle of liquor, that'll help stretch our budget even more, and we'll all be able to eat during the con as well!
If you're not going to be in the room, but still want to help us defray expenses, feel free to make a contribution to GWoB: Just to go http://www.gwob.org/ click on Donate on the left, then click the Donate button to donate via PayPal. Put "OryCon Expenses" in the subject, so we know it's a donation specifically for that reason rather than a general donation, which under our bylaws cannot be used for OryCon.
And, seriously, if you can't donate, don't feel bad, believe me I understand. Nobody will hold it against you and we'll still be delighted to see you there!
