OK, first Bush appointed Poindexter to head DARPA's new Total Information Awareness office. You remember him? Convicted of lying to Congress to cover up that whole Iran/Contra thing awhile back. I'm sure we can trust him with access to unprecedented amounts of information about us. After all, just because he was convicted of shredding government documents then lying about it doesn't mean that he would ever do anything illegal, now would he?
Then, he appointed Kissinger to head the 9/11 attack probe. Kissinger. Think about that for a second. The guy who ran a secret war in Cambodia. Lied to Congress and the American public about it. Former aid to Nixon (another president renowned for his honesty and dedication to civil rights), the man, despite running several businesses around the world, still to this day cannot travel to Spain, France, Argentina, or Chile or various other countries they have treaties with because he's still wanted for war crimes!. Oh, yeah. I feel safer already.
Oh, yeah, and the White House has admitted that yes, it is now official policy that the CIA is allowed to kill Americans if it thinks they might be involved in terrorism. Get that? Kill. Americans. No trial. Furthermore, it has admitted that this policy has already been carried out at least once.
I've compared Bush to Caligula before. He seems to be following the movie version pretty closely. Starting out as the over-priviledged rich kid who knew he could get away with anything he wanted because his daddy was the most powerful man in the world. Including the lack of education, because he really didn't need it to get anywhere, he was going to rule by default. Even the Gold Coin that he had the troops give to every citizen throughout the Empire, in his name (though Bush used the post office, not the troops, and it was a check for $300, and he only gave it to the richest 45% of us, then quietly took it back at the end of the year, but he still made sure that his name was attached when it was given out!) Oh, yeah, and can't forget his fake war to shut down dissent in the senate. And now we're at the point in the movie where he's gloating that he can get away with anything, and just starts going crazy with the political appointees knowing that nobody will stop him. Fortunately, that was only a couple of scenes before the senate finally rose up and killed him....
