Old Soviet jokes
Apr. 11th, 2003 09:53 amA group of people in St. Petersburg was sitting around a dinner table in
one of their private residences. The discussion turned to politics and a
comparison between the conditions in their motherland and those in the
United States of America.
One of them said, "America is a great country! Americans can say anything
they like in public about the U.S. president without getting in trouble!"
One of the others, who had listened to this with an expression of
disdain, answered, "Big deal! *We* can say anything we like in public
about the U.S. president without getting in trouble!"
---------------------
"Both America and the Soviet Union have freedom of speech.
Difference is, America has freedom AFTER speech."
----------------------
And, given that Bush's actions in Iraq would not have been possible without 8 years of the Clinton administration's genocide and propaganda, we can now adopt my favorite completely as our own:
Clinton brought America unknowingly to the brink of a great abyss. But thanks to Bush, we have taken a giant leap forward.
