Crooked

Ello, ello, ello… what 'ave we 'ere then…? You're living close to the edge and it's only a matter of time before you're collared by the Old Bill. You may have fallen on your feet so far, but it won't last forever. Have you ever thought about a more rewarding pastime? (Emotionally that is…)

Based on your answers, we have calculated the maximum penalty for your crimes*:

Years in prison: 40.5 Potential fine: £2000 Plus a possibility of the death penalty!

*Please note this is just a fun quiz so don't be alarmed by your score! The maximum penalty has been taken for each crime and no consideration for scale of crime committed.

The Beagle is away!

And, I'd almost forgotten that Japan launched a Mars probe (not a lander, it will study the atmosphere) five years ago. Depite several early failures it is still on its way to Mars. It had a problem after launch that required most of its fuel to fix. So they calculated a new trajectory for it that it could do with the remaining fuel and sent it to Mars the long way. It's currently due to get there early next year.

That means there will be four probes arriving at Mars by the end of January, 2004. Three of them are specifically looking for signs of life. Assuming it takes three months to process the data, we could know if there is, or ever was, life on Mars by my next birthday.

No, not a political post this one.

I just got spam asking me to apply for a mortgage (and simultaneously telling me I've been pre-approved.)

So I went to the site in question and filled out their form.
Not wanting to use my own address, of course, since I didn't want to share any info with the spammers, I filled in the only other address I could think of: 2600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington, DC 20500

After 60-seconds, I was pre-approved for a $30,000 mortgage, "based on the information you have provided."

Sounded good to me, so of course I gave them permission to send the legal forms to "my" address, and to send me information about more exciting offers as well....

Almost kinda makes me wish I'd used my own address for contact, so I could send in the forms, cash the check, then see what happens if I default.
