Wow, looks like all sorts of fun going on out there

Two fire trucks, an ambulance, and a police car drove up my street about half an hour ago, sirens blaring.

Since then, at least three more police cars drove by, all with sirens. And I've been hearing more sirens in the distance off and on for the last half hour.

And a low-flying helicopter is currently circling overhead.

No idea what's going on, or where exactly. I don't see any smoke or anything...

Sirens still going on.

Apparently, it's from a big fire up aways away in the hills.

My neighbor says he could see the smoke from the highway.

So, why would the fire trucks be going up my street? You can't get there from here...

OK, it's a very large fire. In Boyd park.
The fire, though, is on the north side of the park. I'm on the south side.

It doesn't look like I'll have to evacuate.
I've got stuff packed in the car, though, and the cats locked inside so I can catch them quickly if we need to go.

Watching it on TV now.

Yeah. Gonna be an interesting night.

So I go to the SF Chronicle web site to see if anywhere there's an evacuation order for my neighborhood.

Under "Breaking news", the top two stories are:
'Starsky & Hutch' Star Seeks Divorce
and:
Subdued Hilton says Jail was 'Traumatic'

Thanks. Glad they have their priorties straight.

Gee, I wonder if my home's going to burn down and I'm going to lose everything I own. Can't find out from the Chronicle, but I'm sure glad to know that Paris Fucking HILTON Didn't enjoy JAIL!

Yep. It was a fire.

Yep, it was big.

Looks like they got it under control now. Firefighting force is down to only about a hundred up there.

Closest it got was about a mile. Looked closer when I couldn't see it.

So, I won't be evacuating tonight.

Gonna leave the car packed, though, just in case.
