Yay, I ate solid food!
Jan. 26th, 2005 08:52 pmYesterday, I managed to get my sorry ass to the store, after a shave and shower as I was afraid I smelled bad enough to scare away the homeless people hanging around out front. Took only an hour and a half to get through the shower, get dressed, and go down, across the parking lot, and back up the 28 floors to my apartment. Longest elevator ride in my life. The trip totally wore me out, but it was worth it as I ended up Nyquil, cough drops, Dayquil, a box of kleenex, 7-up, gatorade, and three cans of different kinds of chicken soup. Took a brief nap (and a shot of nyquil), then made the soup. By that evening I was feeling well enough to venture a ham-and-cheese sandwich. Which, I am happy to report, I was able to eat more than 3/4ths of, and it stayed down. First solid food for three days. Yay.
Gah. I still feel like crap, but at least the coughing is only occasional now, and I don't seem to have a fever any more. Then again, fever dreams are always cool. Scary, but way cool. I have to be involved in a server migration, so I had to go into work today. One of my team-mates could have done my part if we'd have a chance for about a ten-minute phone conversation first, but he's out all this week with new baby. So, I went in. Wrote up the results of my script, and spent most of the day either going through my old email - some of which I answered yesterday, and most of the rest of which my boss answered - or staring blankly at the screen. But, managed to survive the day. And even keep down lunch.
Now, if I could just fix this damn stuffy-head thing. You know that feeling, when you're on a plane and it's descending for landing, and your ears need to pop? Yeah, mine have been like that all day.
Ugh. OK, enough whining about my flu. Or whatever it is. I'm gonna go to bed now.
