More on Bush's budget:

plutherusThe BBC reports on Bush's new budget proposal. Among other things of interest, they include this chart, showing official estimates for the deficit, compared to what it would be if the US government actually counted things they're planning, like the money the money they're spending on "fixing" social security, and the cost of making the Bush tax cuts permanent.
Interesting to note the discrepancy between official numbers (the red lines) and reality (the blue lines).
Note, however, that this still follows official White House claims that wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (and any future places we invade) don't cost anything (they're not in the budget), and that the economy is guaranteed to improve dramaticly within a few years.
