Whine whine whine

plutherusYeah, I'm whining but what the hell.
So, the general consensus is that I have a sinus infection.
I called my old dentist in Walnut Creek, who I trust, and he said it seems quite plausible. My doctor agreed, and so did everybody who responded to my last post (thanks, guys, it really does mean a lot to me!)
I'd never heard of it, but apparently the sinus gets inflamed, it causes pressure on the nerves under (over) the tooth and voila - a toothache with nothing wrong with your tooth. So, I got the antibiotics and pain killers, and advised to still stay away from alcohol (can't drink anyway 'cuz of the malaria pills) and airplanes. So, I asked, well, what if, for instance, I am scheduled to fly to Oregon on Friday? "Make sure to have your painkillers with you." Ouch. So, no damage, but it might hurt a bit in the plane. My bathroom cabinet's starting to look like its own pharmacy now. I got two kinds of antibiotics, malaria meds, and four different prescription painkillers, not to mention decongestents, pepto bismol, nyquil, naproxen sodium and excedrin migraine cocktail.
Anyway, it seems my dentist does know what he's talking about after all. So, he's not as much as a schmuck as I might think, though his bedside (chairside?) manner leaves something to be desired. I'm glad I pressed him on the whole "what do I do?" question, though, so he prescribed the antibiotics.
And the painkillers. Yay. I hate painkillers, but I took one anyway. Much less pain now.
Oh, yeah, doctor visit: Malaria's pretty much gone. No symptoms. Sinus infection is probably unrelated. (Malaria doesn't affect the sinuses, you see. I just need some kind of explanation, even if it's that simple.) (I don't ask for much in a doctor - just a godlike ability to instantly tell exactly what's wrong with me and make it all better by the time I leave his office. :)
Christmas shopping - Got most of it done. One package that I ordered three weeks ago has yet to arrive. Amazon sent it to Airborne, who gave it to DHL, who gave it to the post office, who has no idea where it is now. The DHL web site that it's tracked on says "attempted delivery - recepient not home" which makes no sense, as I live in an apartment building, with a doorman, which is staffed 24 hours a day. Packages are left with him. I called the post office and the guy there was familiar with the place and didn't understand it either, and says he'll ask the driver when she gets back what's up, as this is not the only package reported like this. Of course, he didn't ask yesterday, so now I have to call him again tomorrow. Hope it gets here.
Just finishing up wrapping presents. I think they'll all fit in my suitcase, with my clothes. Hm. Come to think of it, I wonder if I should wrap them before putting them into the suitcase. Won't Homeland Security need to look through anything to see if there's anythingworth stealing dangerous.
Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better. Oh, yeah, and I got one of these in an ebay auction, while I was looking for a TV to watch my DVD's on. Very nice! I got it last week and watched Battlestar Galactica on it before the bulb starting going out. It's got a nice feature on it that makes the display start blinking when the bulbs almost dead. Unfortunately, there's no even nicer feature that says "OK, I understand that the bulb's almost dead, now stop blinking so I can at least use what little of the bulb remains because I don't have another one." Fortunately, replacement bulbs for this thing only cost around $8 to replace, as opposed to more modern projector bulbs that cost hundreds. Then again, they're brighter and probably last more than 50 hours anyway. "50 hours?!" one reviewer wrote, "I have to change the bulb every week?" Maybe you should cut back a bit on your TV watching instead, there, dude :)
Anyway, speaking of TV, I'm gonna go eat dinner and watch Contact now. Cya!
