Speaking of Hitler

I came to a realization today, (while talking to reynard52 and 31seel came up).

Hitler has, to me, always been kind of a goofy image - a cartoon more than a scary madman.

And I finally realized why.

The mental image that comes to my mind when I think of Hitler is not that of Adolph Hitler.

It's Charlie Chaplin.

I've always wondered about Hitler's mustache. I figured it was deliberate--it had to be. Hitler was a master of semiotics. I think by wearing an absurd mustache, he made himself less terrifying. "I'm just a lowly corporal that looks like Charlie Chaplin."
