Speaking of terrorism.
Dec. 20th, 2006 05:34 pmSo, they are finally starting to build a replacement for the World Trade Center. A cowering hunk of ugly steel with a giant antenna on top so it can cheese its way into a claim of being the US's tallest building.
But what really gets me, is that construction is due to be completed sometime in 2012.
In other words, it will have taken us 11 years to rebuild it. For those counting, that's 3 years longer than it took us to get to the moon once we'd decided to do so.

You shall behold a building desingned by committee. It's the American way now.

I mean, the bottom few stories are a concrete bunker, and the top few are a hollow facade. It's far shorter than the old one, but with an antenna mount on top so they can claim it's taller. Kinda symbolic of America these days - claiming to be standing tall when it's obvious to everyone who looks that it's not. "Monument to fear" indeed.
