...in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the oil industry for at least one day.

If you agree (which I can't see why you wouldn't) resend this to your entire contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

It is a way to flex muscles. Exxon blames Opec for the price increases, but then how is Exxon reporting reocrd high profits? hhhhmmm.

Frankly, if people stopped buying gas for one day - just one, it would make those assholes shit their pants,

unfortunately the vast majority of those people would also go out and fill up on the 14th so as to not go on the 15th. it's a good idea, but by design it is a protest designed not to inconvenience the protesters, therefore not really having any real effect. Germany had a real solution in the 1970's where they started a "no drive Sunday" because if I buy gas today and I buy gas the day after tomorrow I have not really changed my usage habits. but if we all started to walk one day of the week that would be altering our usage and that would actually hurt the gas companies. so are we trying to make a statement or are we trying to make change. I applaud the intention, but if we are unwilling to inconvenience ourselves, isn't it really like protesting child labor while wearing Nike running shoes?
