plutherusOffice is nearly deserted.
The Doors aren't actually playing, but they should be.
Most of today, people have been gathering around in small groups talking about what's next. Some are taking long vacations. Some have started job searching.
There's three groups: Some who will be leaving at the end of the week. Others will be here until September 21st, and a much smaller group until the end of the year to handle shut down and any transition activities. My boss is in the last group. I'm in the first.
While there's no hope for us, it looks like Capital One may still be interested in the software we've developed. Some people are happy about that. I can understand why -- getting laid off is one thing. Having everything you've worked to create just thrown out, well, that sucks big time.
I'm spending part of my time getting documentation in order, and training those who will be here until the end of the year on how to use everything. I've removed my crontab and backed up the files I want.
Haven't packed up my toys yet. Vir and G'Kar still stand on opposite sides of my monitor, while Chibi Vader and Chibi Obi-Wan still fight over Growf the dragon.
The rest of my time I've been job searching. Got three good leads so far, including one in Salem. That would be way cool.
Turns out E-bay needs me for a position including lots of travel, too. That'd be cool.
But, I'm not too worried. If I don't find something soon, I'm can go move back in to my old room in Eugene for a few months. I've got enough savings that I could last a good while in Eugene if I'm careful with my budget.
Earlier, I wrote up a document listing and describing all the scripts and documents I've written while here, so Capital One can use them if they want. Man, I've written a lot over the last four months! All to no avail, of course, but still.
I have no idea what I'm going to do for the next two days. But, I'll still be coming in - since I'm still on the clock until Friday, might as well get paid, even if I accomplish nothing else. :)
