OK, anyone out there have any idea what the heck this thing is?

It's an 8-port APW Wright Line LMS Switch.

I have no idea what that means. And the phrase "LMS Switch" apparently is not used anywhere on the internet.

It's a 1-U Rackmount device. The "back" contains just the name and logo of the company, the back has keyboard and mouse (one each) PS/2 ports. Over those is what looks like a 9-pin serial port.

Next to that set is another 9-pin serial port and what looks like 8 SCSI ports. There's also a standard power plug and on/off switch.

What the heck is it, though? Are those actually SCSI ports? What kind of switch has PS/2 and serial input and 8 SCSI ports for output? Or am I reading this thing entirely wrong?

Anyway, here's a couple of pictures. Any help identifying this thing is appreciated.
Thanks!

Looks like a KVM to me. It would use proprietary cables form the 8 servers it connects to.

BTW - this post already shows up when you Google "APW Wright Line LMS".

Interesting... looks to me to be a console server. Provides console access to a group of machines. Those are probably not SCSI connectors (although it's the same connector, I doubt that it uses the SCSI protocols).

Or maybe it's some kinda funky SAN server.

I'd hook up a console connection to it and see what you can find out...

I found the company that MAKES (made?) it, but they don't have anything on their Web site... except their contact info...

More research shows a few of these being sold as KVM switches. I wonder where you'd get cables for it...

Yeah, that does seem to be the consensus.

Kinda funny about the post getting to Google that fast. And being the only result for APW Wright Line LMS Switch :)

Yep, that seems to be the consensus.

KVM it is, then.

Cables? Not my problem. This thing's gone to Ebay now :)

The switch has been discontinued. There should be a series number on the switch (e.g.LC98M2). If you can provide this information we may be able to assist you.
