More Sea of Cortez
Mar. 27th, 2010 08:31 amSeagulls from earlier today.
Tonight, we watched squid hunt.
No pictures of that as it's too dark. In theory, pretty simple: watch the ocean until a bunch of fish start jumping in magnificent leaps out of the water. After a few leaps, a pattern becomes apparent. At the tip of this movement, look for a diffuse glowing spot under the water moving towards where the fish are jumping. That's the squid.
We spotted a couple. And also a duck, who we had seen on and off throughout the day. And, after much practice, I can now tell the difference between a squid and a duck. On the ocean, at night.
