Roving Mars
Jan. 8th, 2011 09:11 amLast week was the 7th anniversary of the twin Martian rovers, Spirit and Opportunity.
Spirit has been silent for a couple of months now, though they haven't given up hope of reviving it yet. Opportunity is still going strong, albeit backwards for the last year or so. (Much like my old Volare at the end...)
Pretty awesome considering they were originally planned to last three months!
Congratulations, NASA, on this special anniversary. May all your future endeavors fare as well!
EDIT: Sorry, Six years. They landed in January 2004 (they were launched from Earth in 2003).
Still longer than I had my Volare for, and that was with regular maintenance...
