Writing and stuff

plutherusHey, I can hear you asking, what's up with the writing? Or is it a lack thereof?
Yeah, it got maybe a little delayed. Here's the thing: I'm giving up on Jahid. For now. I'll get back to it eventually. If I can find the original play, that'd be awesome. But re-writing it from scratch just isn't working right now. At least, not at a rate that I'll be able to finish anywhere near the end of this month and not have it suck.
And, it needed some major re-work anyway. Even if I do find the original, the entire Maryam sub-plot and through-line needs to be re-written.
So, that's off the table for now. I won't be in JAW this year. Maybe next.
Which brings me to the next point: Even as I was trying to write it, I kept having more ideas for my novel, but not for the play. And I kept making more notes, and writing more paragraphs, and so on, continuing the story. So I'm going to go back to that now, (actually, I went back to it in earnest a couple of days ago) instead of in February as originally planned.
I've made some advancement on draft zero (the hand-written version) of part 2, and am also continuing Draft One (the computerized version) of Part 1. I like writing longhand, so I think I'll continue doing that for the first draft, then re-write it as I transfer from paper into bits.
And, of course, I'm going to continue my random sentence of the day, just because it was fun. (And also helps me focus). Some will be from part 2, some from part 1. There might be some that you've seen before. I'm not going to go back and check every day to avoid redundancies. Besides, anything that gets repeated, you'll know made it into the first draft.
No idea how much longer this will take. But I'm going to focus on this one, and only this one, project until it's finished. At which point, I'll start another. Which may or may not be Jahid.
