So, after getting nowhere with various customer service reps and supervisors this morning, I gave up and decide dto tansit off of Yahoo. Turns out that Yahoo, SBC, and SBC Yahoo are three different companies, none of whom will take responsibility for anything. SBC says that they don't own the email address, so I'll have to talk to Yahoo about keeping it. Yahoo claims they don't own the email address, SBC does because they merged them. (The fact that I never gave them permission to merge them is irrelevant).

So, to top it all off, after I gave up, I received the bill in the mail today. Apparently, I didn't send it in last week, so the total is $106.10. Well, this works out perfectly. So I sent them the bill back, with this note:

Thank you for sending me the latest bill, especially since you sent it to my old address instead of the one I tole you two weeks ago to switch to, allowing me to receive it a day earlier than I otherwise would have. As per our multiple conversations earlier, the changes you made without my permission will cost me a total of $120.00 over the coming year. Thank you for agreeing to reimburse me this amount, in the same way that I gave you permission to make changes in the first place. You may deduct the amount $106.10 from the $120 which you agreed to reimburse me. In order to avoid further collection procedures, please remit the remaining $13.90 to:

[my new address]

Thank you,
Sincerely, Pat Luther, newly satisfied customer.

Should be interesting to see what comes of this...
