How stupid can you get?

From President Bush's remarks to American Embassy personnel in Senegal:
...we are so honored to start our trip to this continent here in Senegal. I had the opportunity to go out to Goree Island and talk about what slavery meant to America. It's very interesting when you think about it, the slaves who left here to go to America, because of their steadfast and their religion and their belief in freedom, helped change America.
The rest of his remarks are almost as insipid, but not as outrageously stupid, as the above quote.
I hope that someday we'll again have a president who can open his mouth without embarrassing the country.

Then that would mean that blacks were never brought here as merchandise, we never nuked Japan twice (as we'd have had 150 years of unbroken peace with them, so saideth The Shrub) , we'd have broomsticks that really fly, yelling "Yaaaaaaaaaa" would carry some weight, and we'd all have something to show for selling our souls back in high school, i.e. Satan wouldn't have punked out on the deal!
C. Dubya's only embarassing because he's representative of the mediocrity we've come to accept as a culture, like being embarassed for a good actor acting in a terribly written play, or being embarassed to watch something awful on TV like 'Battlestar Galactic 1980'.
