Walking on the moon
Jul. 29th, 2003 11:29 amApparently, lj lost this post while they were having problems yesterday. So here it is again:
This is cool:
Especially, the last two words:
The first stage of China's moon exploration program ( "Chang'er I"
Project) started on March 1, 2003. It will be carried out in the recent
two-three years, the moon probe satellite will be launched, exploring the
topography, geomorphology, geologic formation and distribution of
resources as well as the space environment between the moon and the
earth. On the second stage, China will launch its moon car, achieve the
soft landing, patrol and explore on the moon, building the basis for the
further moon research. And the third stage, China will launch the small
module and moon robot to collect the needed samples and return safely,
research the samples and prrovide the data for the manned moon-landing
and the location of China's moon base.
The Rest of the Story
And my reply to the comments that got in before the post was deleted:
1. Yeah, OK, ignore the really bad English transation. The original, of course, is in Chinese. I don't know if they use a human or machine translator. My guess is machine translation, it just kinda has that feel to it, but I really don't know.
2. The date given for the first moon walk is July 20, 1976. The correct date, of course, was July 20, 1969 (note that 1968 isn't correct either :-) I assume this was just a typo, but then again that was during China's Maoist period, so maybe The Chairman just took 7 years before he admitted it :-)
