Just thought I'd mention it...
Aug. 17th, 2003 02:11 pmI just send the following letter to the Oregonian and to the Eugene Register-Guard. Think there's any chance it'll get printed?
With all the focus on current administration crimes, sometimes we forget just what all this administration has done.
Remember that, in addition to the famous "16 words" where Bush lied about an IAEA report, claiming it said that Saddam Hussein was six months away from a viable nuclear weapons program, when in reality it said the opposite. He also lied about trailers being used for biological warfare when in reality they were used to haul weather balloons, and had Powell lie to the UN, using a combination of plagiarized, outdated, and discredited documents to make his case.
John Poindexter, convicted liar in the Iran/Contra scandal, is still in charge of Homeland Security.
Cheney is still refusing to disclose documents relating to his role in the Enron scandal, despite court orders that he do so.
There are still an unknown number of American citizens, at least a couple of hundred according to official administration figures, who are being held in federal custody, some for over a year now, without being charged with any crime.
It is still official policy that the CIA is allowed to murder, without trial, American citizens outside the US who they feel may be involved in any way in terrorist organizations. The administration has admitted that this action has been carried out at least once.
It is still official policy that some foreign intelligence agencies are allowed to kill American citizens inside the US without trial if they claim they believe they may be involved with terrorism. Because they are not required to share any records with the American public, it is unknown if this policy has ever been carried out.
The FCC never apologized for threatening to pull the licenses of TV stations who aired a Democrat ad calling for investigations into the current administration.
All this, and people still support the current administration, and their front man George W. Bush. Why?
