Education, Texas style
Aug. 17th, 2003 11:38 pmYour state ranks dead last in education. You finally get the Democrats back into the capital so you can have a quorum to get some laws passed. What's the first thing you do? Vote for reforms leading to higher standards and better education, with more money for schools instead of inane tax cuts for the richest residents of your state?
Hell no! Forget that reading and writing and shit! Pass a law requiring all students to take time out of the day, after a mandatory "moment of silence" to recite a new pledge to the flag! A pledge which, as we've come to expect from Texas, doesn't even make any sense:
""Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible."
