When I first watched Dr Who, William Hartnell was the Doctor, in black and white. Some of the early episodes were really quite scary (OK for an under 10) and I remember one adventure which involved Things in the London Underground which really had me wibbling. My favourite Doctor was Tom Baker, but I never thought much of the later ones.
I started watching while Tom Baker was on. I think I was around 10 or so, they were showing it over here on PBS. I couldn't tell you if it was black & white at the time - it was before I got a colour TV. :) It was probably the primary cause of arguments with my sister, as it was on at the same time as Little House on the Prarie, which was her favorite show. As the schedule shifted back and forth, I saw a lot of first- or last-halves of episodes. :)
