With 41% of precincts reporting, it looks like California will be under the heels of The Governator. Sorry guys. As bad as your economy is, it was better than most of the country.

At least until the GOP gets around to writing the constitutional amendment that will allow him to become president.
Election results can be found here

As for the two measures that hardly anybody knows about, and which most votes were probably cast at random by people who based their entire decision on the paragraph explaining them found on their ballots, both are losing by a wide margin. Which is probably a good thing. When it comes to new laws, when in doubt, vote no.

My quick opinion on the measures:
Proposition 53 dedicates money to road and other infrastructure repair and improvement. Although this is needed, it never specifies where the money comes from, which usually means that they'll take it from the schools.

Proposition 54 prohibits government institutions, such as public contractors and police, from collecting any race data. While it would be nice to eventually go this way, the effect it would have is to make any lawsuits alleging racial discrimination impossible to prove. Lets make sure institutional racism is a thing of the past before destroying the tools used to discover it.

And I've already given my opinions on the recall. While Davis was bad, I will be very surprised if Scwartzenegger is not worse. Especially since he seems to be owned by the same people who run Bush.
