I love Jon Stewart (but not in that way)

So, I finally got around to archiving off some of the video on my hard drive onto DVD.
Among other things, are many old episodes of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

From the November 18th, 2002 episode, where he was reporting on the Army expelling six Arabic translators for being gay (remember that?), while simultaneously holding the largest recruitment drive ever for Arabic translators:

"If a gay man provides intelligence that saves your life, does that make you gay?"

And at the end of the piece:

"We're fighting a war against religious extremists. This is certainly no time to behave in a manner that's offensive to God!"

Reminds me of something we were talking about yesterday at work. Someone was saying they heard a conservative/Christian radio personality, when asked about all those other pesky things in the bible (like love your neighbor, don't kill, etc.) & why we shouldn't maybe be focusing on those now he said

"desperate times call for desperate measures, and we are living in desperate times!"

Yeah, like times weren't desperate back then! What with all the war and smiting and wife trading and such...
