An amateur rocket called GoFast has made history by becoming the first such rocket to reach 100 kilometres altitude - the official edge of space.

According to the article, the rocket, built and operated entirely by an amateur, civilian organization, cost "tens of thousands of dollars". Which is pretty damn cheap compared to the millions that professional launches generally cost.
