Today, while reynard52 and M headed up to Albany to get M's mother's car whose transmission went out there (after first stopping by Uhaul to rent a trailer and buy a ball hitch (which we've been wanting for a while. Yay! we can tow things now! :) I spent the day researching copiers to send to Africa, and hitting Canon, HP, Xerox, etc. up for donations. None of them do direct donations to non-profits. Most go through Gifts in Kind, and others, like HP, only donate to groups they approach, so they don't take unsolicited donation requests at all (unless you're a student who wants to buy one at cost. If you are, contact HP for some great printer deals!)

So now the registration with Gifts in Kind gets pushed up the ladder of priorities. And tomorrow I hit up all the retailers. I think the best one for our needs is the ( HP 7130 )

Public domain photos

This is kinda cool. A whole bunch of government photographs, all public domain, from historical records going back to the 17th century, to the latest from NASA, and a whole bunch of science and nature photos as well. Can be found here.
