I just finished reading the book Class by Paul Fussell, lent to me by 31seel. Very fun. He spends the first chapter trying to convince the reader that there is such a thing as a class structure in America - which I found a bit tedious, feeling it was quite obvious. This, of course, would put me firmly as a Prole, as I don't make nearly enough money to be upper-class, and the Middle-class as he describes it would never admit there can be such a thing. Upper-class, being secure in their position, don't mind mentioning it, and proles, likewise secure (i.e., knowing they're stuck there) likewise will acknowledge its existence.
