More and more fucked up
Apr. 29th, 2004 08:44 pmFrom The NY Times and other sources:
He's right about that. There have been far too many stories of torture on our part of our prisoners. The six that are being court-martialed deserve what's coming to them, no doubt about that. However, I don't believe for a second that nobody else in the prison other than those who were in the photos knew what was going on or took part.
This is so severely fucked up. They have been denying this sort of thing, in the face of many, many, many witnesses who claimed to have seen it or been victims of it. For them to now claim that it was just an isolated incident involving only a few soldiers is too incredible.
How come there were no charges when our allies, under our supervision, lined up and machine-gunned 150 Afghanis? How come there was no response from the military when several hundred were packed into trucks, shipped through the desert and given no water for three days? How come there is no investigation of Guatanamo Bay after 6 prisoners there (that we know of) died during interrogation?
There needs to be a complete investigation, and it needs to be done by the United Nations, not by the U.S. Military. I do not for a second trust our military to adequately investigate itself.
Better yet, we should impeach the fucking regime that is making this possible, get our forces out of Iraq, Afghanistan, Cuba, Central and South America, and everywhere else we're acting as a destabilizing forces to increase the profit of Cheney, Kenneth Lay,. Billy Graham, Kissinger, and all their gang, put them all on trial and clean up our fucking government.
Another quote from the article:
Yeah, well, good thing we put an end to that, huh? How the fuck can anyone support this, or think that it's a good idea??!
Gah!
And, since the New York Times requires registration to read the article, here's ( The complete text )
"This case involves a monumental failure of leadership, where lower-level enlisted people are being scapegoated," Mr. Myers said. "The real story is not in these six young enlisted people. The real story is the manner in which the intelligence community forced them into this position."

NO MORE!
Another quote from the article:
The prison is infamous as a site where Saddam Hussein tortured prisoners while he was in power.

Way, way fucked up
Apr. 29th, 2004 09:10 pmSomeone posted a bunch of the pictures here
Please do not make the mistake of thinking that because there are only two American soldiers in the pictures, that only two Americans were involved. There have been far too many reports to make that distinction. These are just the only ones (that we know of) who were incredibly stupid enough to photograph themselves committing these atrocities.
These two people need to be court-martialed, drummed out of the military, then sent to the Hague for trial:

Then jailed for life.
Not tortured like they did to this man, who was made to stand on a cardboard box with wires attached to his hands and genitals, and told he would be electrocuted if he fell off:

And not beaten to death, like they did to this man:

Words cannot express the depth of my rage right now. I'm sorry, I know the pictures are distateful, and I know a lot of you don't need to see them to be opposed to this kind of shit. But the word must be spread. Don't let them get away with this. Don't let them bury this by court-martialling half a dozen reservists and reassigning a dozen more officers. It is too important for that.
This all lands directly back to the Bush administration. Impeach him, and take his whole regime to the Hague. Let them do what they want with them, as long as they promise not to send them back here.
