Update on the unpleasantness.

So, I visited the court, who informed me that the emails and previous statements do not constitute legal notice for my crazy roommate to vacate the premises.

So I went over today to give her the legal 72 hour notice. I also offered her a deal. If she leaves today, I will pay for her hotel room from now til Wednesday (when she gets her next unemployment check), and put her stuff into a storage unit and give her the key.

She said no.

So I gave her the 72 hour notice, and informed her the sheriff will be there on Thursday. She reiterated her intent to not leave the apartment.

So, process from here is: I have to wait til Thursday, then go back the court and file a complaint. They will then schedule a hearing 1-2 weeks after that.

If she shows up to the hearing, she can demand a trial. If she does, that'll delay everything another two weeks.

Then, I can have the sheriff remove her.

(Of the many fees in the listed schedule, one was "Sherriff's fee for execution: $106", which sadly probably isn't what it sounds like).

Anyway, all this is complicated by the fact that my landlord, now that they know she's there, has given me 10 days to put her on the lease or I will be evicted. I'm going to talk to them tomorrow morning, and see if they'll give me the extra time I need. If they don't, then I'll be moving out earlier than that, I think I won't fight them on the eviction. Then Lainey will be *their* problem instead of mine.

Of course, that presents its own set of issues. Not the least of which is, I will have an eviction on my record. (Oh, yeah, did I mention that she tried to hide the notice from me, not knowing that I'd already spoken to the landlord about it?)

Meanwhile, my cat, my computer, and me, are all staying elsewhere.
