So, Saturday, my back started hurting a bit.
Actually, it started hurting a lot. As in, I couldn't stand up all the way, and it sent sharp pains up and down my spine every time I tried to move.
Ouch. So this is it, I thought, I'm old, now. It's over. Having no idea what it was, but still relating pain in the back with Old Man-ness.
Fortunately, a friend of mine dropped by around then. After listening to me whine for a while, told me he had the same thing last year, and his doctor said it was a kidney infection. How to fix: Drink lots of water. Avoid sugar. No caffeine. And, best of all, since he's only 20, it proves that it isn't an Old Man thing, therefore, I am Not Old. (Logic is your friend, if you twist it enough.)
So, all that night, and the next day, I drank lots of water, and had no caffeine. By Sunday night, it barely hurt at all.
Feeling cured, I had a cup of coffee Monday morning. Started hurting again by the afternoon. Drank lots of water. Took aspirin for the pain. Went to bed early and by Tuesday I was fine. Yesterday, I spent all day running back and forth between the two buildings. Virtually no water intake (one glass only all day), then, thirsty, and far from a water source, I had a coke. By that night, I was in intense pain again.
I am such a fucking moron sometimes.
It still wasn't as bad as on Saturday night, though, so I drank lots of water again, barely slept, ran out of aspirin, finally woke up at 5 this morning and couldn't sleep. Pain came and went, so I finally went to the doctor today, got an emergency appointment. The verdict: Kidney infection. Drink lots of water. No caffeine.
Goddammit.
Well, she also gave me antibiotics and some more massive painkillers which I probably won't take, and told me to come back next week if it's still hurting.
I've had almost a gallon of water today, and by two I was feeling fine. So, I decided to put together my desk that I bought off of Ebay a few weeks ago and arrive on Monday.
Spent two hours hunched over on the floor lifting heavy boards at awkward angles.
Now my back hurts.
I am such a fucking moron sometimes.
But at least I'm Not Old.
