Note to God
Mar. 26th, 2011 12:35 amSo I got this app a few days ago, after hearing about it in some news article or another, called "Note to God". You can put in your own notes, which go into a database somewhere, and you can read the notes other people put in there. (It's all anonymous of course).
So I looked at it today, and read a few of the notes. I'm not sure what I was expecting. A lot of them are rather banal (there were at least two asking for help finding their car keys), and some show an amazing level of self-absorption. Others are actually moving. And some just kind of rip your heart out, such as:

Dear God,
Please help me not to react badly when kids at school call me names. Sometimes when they push me down in the hall I just want to get back up and hit them but I know that's not right.
And help me not to hate my sunday school teacher who told me not to come to church anymore because I'm a sinner.
Maybe I am a sinner, but don't sinners need church more than anybody? Please help me not to hate everybody. And to not be a sinner anymore.

Date: 2011-03-28 05:24 am (UTC)I have no idea who this kid is, or what his actual circumstances are, but here he is, with damn good reason to hate, desperately trying to figure out how not to hate.
He's probably from some small town somewhere, where pretty much everybody he ever interacts with claims to be a Christian. The irony is, if you define a Christian as someone who follows the teachings of Christ, then he is the only one who really is.
