Common cause with the terrorists...
Mar. 27th, 2003 08:46 amAs Ashcroft so wisely pointed out, Mark Fiore is aiding our enemies by making common cause with them by criticizing US policy.
And he's damn funny, to boot: http://sfgate.com/comics/fiore/

Date: 2003-03-27 09:41 am (UTC)"To those who scare peace-loving people with
phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this:
Your tactics only aid terrorists for they erode
our national unity and diminish our resolve."
-- John Ashcroft
(And I was thinking that he had used the words "common cause with the terrorists" somewhere in there, but perhaps that was in a later speach, or maybe just a common phrase that people who are trying to support him have been using.)
I like to quote that line, followed immediately by:
To announce that there must be no criticism of the
President, or that we are to stand by the President,
right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile,
but is morally treasonable to the American public.
-- Theodore Roosevelt
Which I think creates a nice juxtaposition to the Bush Crusade, fighting for Our FREEDOM! (tm) and what that
word actually means.
