Overall, a great end to the year.
First, I got to spend five whole days at my Eugene home, with Chantel, Matt, My cat, and their dog.

When I got back to Portland, I dropped by my apartment to see no sign that the roommate has begun moving out, aside from the missing furniture from last week.

Disheartened, I went back out. Fortunately, my Dad and my Sister had decided to have our traditional Christmas brunch on New Years, so I got to go visit them for a while. After eating, we visited Pittock Mansion (Pictures of that to follow -- it's actually pretty cool.)

As we were leaving the mansion, my downstairs neighbor (who is also head of maintenance for the apartment) called to tell me that he thought Lainey was out. He saw her and some guy load up a U-Haul van and drive away.

I stopped by the apartment shortly thereafter, and it looked like she did indeed move out, though she left a lot of stuff behind, so it looked like they were intending to come back for another load. The maintenance guy offered to change the locks right then, tonight. He had met her a couple of times and had some rather unpleasant encounters. Apparently, she also tried to pick a fight with the apartment manager on Friday, which didn't go well for her. The police weren't called, but the threat was made and she settled down after that.

I texted her after they offered to change the locks to see if she was indeed planning on coming back for another load. That was at 5:30, and, as of nine tonight, she still hasn't responded, so I guess not.

So, it looks like that's the end of it. She's gone, leaving a bunch of her stuff behind. It looks like she left most of my stuff behind, too. She did take a few things: all the toilet paper, the shower curtain, and the quarters from the jar I keep my laundry money in (there was about $2.00 total, so I'm not really that put out by it).

I went to Freddy's to get a new shower curtain, some toilet paper, and a roll of quarters. As well as some dinner. She ate everything in the place that could conceivably be heated up to eat directly (so, no the chicken, most of the spice packets, or the several cans of coconut milk.) She also left two bottles of beer in the fridge, which is the main reason I thought she was intending to come back. I'll probably offer it to the maintenance guy.

At any rate, it is over. Thank you everybody who helped me through this, and turned what could have been a hellish nightmare into what was really, in the end, a fairly minor inconvenience. Thanks especially Thomas and Tabitha for giving me a place to stay for the last month, and to everyone else who offered. And to everyone who answered my original call for help. You guys are all totally awesome, and I know I really don't deserve you, but I ain't letting you go.

It'll probably be a few days, maybe more, before I can really feel safe here again, and stop constantly double-checking that the door is locked. (It is, I just checked.) But I will get over it. And 2014 is going to be the best year ever!

If she doesn't contact me by this weekend, I'll figure out something to do with the stuff (mostly clothes it looks like) that she abandoned here. I suspect a womens' shelter is in its future.
