The State And The Feds
Apr. 9th, 2003 04:14 pmSo, I finally got through to the Secretary of State, corporate division, who's number has been busy for like two days, and convinced them to fax me a confirmation copy of our Articles of Incorporation. The IRS needs the proof that they have been filed to evaluate our 501(c)3 application. This is the very last thing of all the new stuff they have asked for after our original application, which was almost five months ago now.
Now, they have already received confirmation copy of the amended articles of incorporation, our copy of the original articles of incorporation, and the letter we got from the state confirming that they have received and filed our original articles of incorporation. But that, apparently, isn't enough to prove to the IRS that we did, indeed, file articles of incorporation.
But, if all goes well, we may actually have 501(c)3 approval before Norwescon. Of course, now that they have all the information they wanted, they could still reject the application for any number of reasons, none of which they publicize.
