Woo-hooo! I'm in Eugene!

Matt and Chantel drove down Thursday night. Had a bit of car trouble on the way down, but they made it down at around 1:30am Friday morning. Spent about 3-1/2 hours loading, cleaning, etc. and left San Francisco about 5am. Which actually worked out quite well, since there is far less traffic in SF in the middle of the night and, since the last MUNI bus is at 1:30 am, and the first at 5, we were able to park the van in the bus zone right outside my front door to do all the loading.
With fully loaded van, we were often limited to about 40mph going up the hills between SF and Eugene, and arrived back at Eugene at 5pm. Then unloaded (which had to be done right away since Matt had to use the van the next day to move another friend in town!

So I've actually been here since 5pm Friday, but haven't gotten the computer hooked up until now, between unpacking and all the work we're doing for GWoB. _heretic and laiadapila came over to discuss the big fundraiser on Wednesday (Nerd Ball 1, at Diablo's this Wednesday!) 'Twas great to see them again. Kinda funny sitting around in my yard in Eugene on the same camp chairs and futon we used when they were visiting me in San Francisco! I am so looking forward to this. It's gonna be a blast, what with door prizes, geek auction, and, of course, much great music!

Spent all day today soliciting donations from various restaurants and stuff around town for gift certificates to give out with the geeks at the auction. (Two restaurants, a hair salon, and Onsen hot tubs all donated! Wheee!)

Let's see...other news: still unpacking, and probably will be for awhile. Cats are settling in better than I expected. Widad hisses at Al whenever he walks by (or comes into the room to eat their food or sleep in the window). Al ignores him. Got the GWoB phone hooked up today (but we gotta run wires from the box before we can hook it up), and starting later this week will be busy getting half the garage converted over to the office. Fun fun fun!

And now, I'm gonna go send out email announcements to everyone telling them the new Geeks Without Borders phone number (541-344-6220) and office hours (9am to 5pm starting Thursday), and reminding them of Nerd Ball 1.

And then, to sleep.

It is great to see you again too! This is only the thrid time or so, and first or second time ever with reynard52, that we have been able to visit with you. Maybe we should bring the seating ensemble on camping trips;-P
I'll see you tomorrow in the early afternoon. I found several items for the raffle(?). A starwars ccg intro deck set, star trek model of the bridge(old enterp.), a set of 5 metal card that has Jim in various forms;-P, an almost complete set of stng series 2 cards, and few other things. Still digging may find more;-)
