"I am not a white supremacist. Those who follow the hateful and violent ideology of white supremacy need to understand they have no ally in me. To anyone considering harming others in my name, I urge you to please stop. If you think that's what I want, then you have seriously misunderstood my message. America is made of immigrants. Equality of all people, regardless of race, creed, color, religion, or national origin is the single most important founding principle of this country, and anyone who does not understand it is not my friend, not my ally, and not a good American."

That is what a disavowal of white supremacy would look like. And yes, this alone would not be enough. Even if trump said something this strongly worded (and, obviously he never will), it would mean nothing if he didn't follow it up by stopping the veiled (and occasionally unveiled) racism in his rallies and his tweets, and, frankly, at this point, a whole lot more.

But issuing a statement like this would be a first step. Until he's willing to take even a single step to separate himself from white supremacists I don't foresee anyone convincing me he's not radicalizing them on purpose in order to hold onto power for his white supremacist puppeteers.
